Today we’re sharing the “deerest” little birthday party for sweet, one year old, Isla. This woodland birthday party is so adorable!

We first saw a few of these images on Orange Trunk Vintage Styling & Rentals’ Instagram feed and we commented on how cute it was! From there, we discussed sharing it here! We’re thrilled that Heather (Orange Trunk Vintage Styling & Rentals) discussed this with Isla’s parents and that they agreed to feature it! Lucky us!

“This sweet first birthday party was planned with so much love for little Miss Isla. Her mom, Sarah, has a wonderful eye for detail, and planned and designed this event down to the last pine cone! With all her favourite vendors lined up, she filled in the last few pieces at neighbourhood shops for flowers and food.  The party was to be held in a lovely local park area, but the weather wasn’t cooperative. Sarah went with it, and pulled off an outdoor party indoors, in her very own home. ” Heather / Orange Trunk Vintage Styling & Rentals

We couldn’t agree with Heather more! Sarah’s design and styling is impeccable! I love how she created this adorable woodland theme using a perfect blend of rustic and feminine styling. So fitting for a little girl’s birthday! She definitely could add “party planner” to her resume along with “super mom”! While Isla may be too young to ever remember her first birthday, she’ll always have the photos to see how much love and care her parents put into her first ever birthday party!

This the deer themed invitation from Etsy creative, After February  is fitting for Isla’s woodland birthday party!

From Isla’s Mom Sarah: Isla’s Woodland Birthday Party

“When it came time to plan Isla’s first birthday I knew I wanted some kind of woodsy feel, but I needed it to be girly at the same time. I chose a fawn as my woodland animal that I would tie in throughout various elements of the party. I’ve always loved the colors mint, pink, gold, white and silver paired together so I decided to use that as my color palette.

I’m a big believer in supporting small shops and so I found makers on Etsy and Instagram to create items for me.

My favorite part of the whole day was, of course, seeing Isla having a blast at her party! I was also extremely pleased with the way my theme and ideas flowed together in the end. Standing back to admire it all put together was such a great feeling!”

Today we’re sharing Jace’s adorable Lumberjack Birthday Party from Shannon Valente Weddings. Jace just happens to be Shannon’s now one year old son! Shannon, a wedding planner, is known for her design and creative DIY’s and Jace’s party is no exception. It’s downright cute!

We recently mentioned how buffalo plaid and the lumberjack look is one of this season’s hottest trends! Leave it to Shannon to be up on the latest trends!

From Shannon Valente Weddings:

“I tend to go a bit over the top with my children’s birthday parties but I attribute that to being a wedding planner by trade and hey, it’s fun!  Our youngest son’s first birthday was this past December and we went with a lumberjack theme. I’m a big DIYer so most things were made and/or printed at home.

I went with a simple email invite since we were just inviting family and a few close friends. I made it in Word using free kraft paper and buffalo plaid stock photos and a wood font I downloaded online.”

“For the décor I ordered plaid napkins, a wood/plaid tablecloth and lumberjack plates from Birthday Express.  The rest I made myself.  I couldn’t find buffalo plaid paper anywhere so I printed a few pages using the stock photo to make the birthday flag banner, cupcake circles and wrappers.  I used kraft paper and the wood font to make the rest of the banners and signs.  I made the log cabin treat bags from brown paper bags and stapled some green felt to make the roof, my older son helped me colour them to make them look like wood.

I kept the food simple, lumberjack sandwiches, fruits and veggies.  I also made a few sweet treats to fit the theme, s’mores on a stick and birch sticks (pretzel breadsticks covered in white and dark chocolate to look like trees).”

“Photo booths have become a standard at our kids parties, I use sparkbooth on my Mac book and my mini cannon printer to print pictures so guests have a memento to take home with them (or 20 like the 7 year old girls left with, they LOVED it) and the kids just have to hit the space bar and it does the rest.  I did a custom background for the printouts to say thanks and printed up some lumberjack photo booth props I found on etsy.”

Shannon also had a mini axe throwing competition. “No” she says, “I didn’t let the children play with weapons! It was a twist on pin the tail on the donkey and they used paper circles with their names on them for the axes.”

“It was such a fun party to put together and being that it was in December I loved playing up the lumberjack aspect and embracing the winter theme.”

Shannon’s favorite moment of the day: “Watching him devour his cupcake!” 🙂

Thanks so much Shannon! We are honored you shared Jace’s 1st Birthday party with us!!

The holidays are upon us again and it’s definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

If you’ve seen the holiday movie Elf, you know that Buddy the Elf (played by Will Farrell) believes that, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”, I’d have to argue that nothing gets me in the holiday spirit more than gorgeous seasonal decorations and lights! A fire in the hearth, the smell of wood and a steaming mug of hot chocolate doesn’t hurt either.

Photos by Kim Payant PhotographySpending time with family and friends is, of course, the best part of all!

Of course, chocolate treats from the Le Chocolatier in Canmore (moose, pops, mini bears, mini bear claws) and Bear Paws from Mountain Chocolates, in Banff, Alberta sweeten the holidays just a little bit more.

Have a safe and happy holiday season!

All photos take place at CRMR‘s rocky mountain lodges, Deer Lodge in Lake Louise, Alberta and Emerald Lake Lodge, Field BC.
