We are so excited to share this sweet Squamish Engagement from Karizma Photography today!

Romantic Squamish Engagement from Karizma Photography

Squamish Engagement Session

Sisters, Natalia and Tatiana, the dynamic duo that together make up Karizma Photography, captured breathtaking images of Cara and Chris’s sweet engagement session at Furry Creek, near near Squamish, BC. We couldn’t be more thrilled that they took the time to share with us!

The location is stunning and the photos couldn’t be prettier! Romantic, secluded, full of natural textures and beauty, the images capture the scenery perfectly. What’s more, they capture Cara and Chris’s sweet love story immortalized in timeless beauty. We can only imagine the peaceful sounds of the water as it laps up on the shore and the quiet sounds of nature. Stolen, intimate moments perserved.

From Karizma Photography

“We were very excited to start our 2016 wedding season by photographing Cara and Chris’ sweet engagement! They wanted to take their engagement pictures at a beach near Squamish with mountains in the background, and we took them to an amazing beach at Furry Creek. It is one of our favorite spots along the Sea-to-Sky highway as it is very beautiful and very quiet, and has spectacular mountains views. We had a fun and relaxing Furry Creek Engagement session with Cara and Chris. They are such a pleasant couple to work with, and we are really excited to photograph their wedding in July 2016!” ~Natalia & Tatiana |  Karizma Photography

Time for a boho mountain bachelorette getaway!

The Canadian Rocky Mountains have always been a popular wedding destination, and more than ever we’re seeing an increase in mountain bachelorette, weekend getaways. With fresh air, breathtaking landscapes and limitless activities, it’s no wonder!

A weekend in the mountains is especially attractive for the nature-loving bride who prefers to forego the traditional nightclub festivities, but it’s also great for any bride who wants to escape for some pre-nuptial bonding with her BFF’s.

Today we’re featuring a boho mountain bachelorette shoot designed by Naturally Chic, with gorgeous florals from Willow Flower Co; hair and make-up by the talented Mountain Beauties team, and beautiful photographs by Kim Payant Photography.

“For this bachelorette getaway, we pictured the bride who has a gypsy spirit and bohemian flair. We designed our bachelorette escape with her in mind, but we also wanted to stay true to our rocky mountain roots. We wanted the girls to have that quintessential mountain experience, complete with hiking, canoeing, and s’mores by the fire pit. With that in mind, we decided on the beautiful Emerald Lake Lodge as our destination getaway. It’s main lodge is over a 100 years old with authentic rough hewn beams, wood walls, and field stone fireplaces, but it’s complete with world-class amenities. It was everything we were looking for in a mountain escape!” ~ Sharon / Naturally Chic

With hiking and canoeing at their door step, the girls were able to have an action-packed day that included a meditative, morning yoga session to get the festivities started. After a full morning of outdoor activities the girls were more than ready to sit down at their boho themed picnic session styled by Naturally Chic. They relaxed on a grassy spot, with mountain views overlooking the jewelled-colored lake. After that, the girls went back to the room to get ready for the rest of their action-packed day that included a private wine-tasting, photo booth dance party, dinner and fun times at the fire pit before finally hitting the spa to relax their tired muscles.

After lunch, the girls spent some time relaxing before their evening activites that included a private wine tasting and charcuterie catered by Emerald Lake Lodge. Willow Flower Co. created a fun and colorful floral backdrop and floral crowns for the girls! Mountain Beauties helped the ladies look their best for the evening.

Is this not floral crown perfection?

More From Designer Naturally Chic

“I wanted the picnic to be relaxed and casual. In keeping with the “Canadiana boho” theme, I used lots of bright colors and textures, and accessories with a bit of a Moroccan feel. We used a low table bench so that the girls could sit on the ground on comfy pillows, while enjoying their lunch.

I continued the relaxed, boho theme for the wine tasting and dessert table set up. I kept the wine tasting table simple, as I knew it would be soon be full of wine and foods for the girls to sample. For favours, we custom built wood boxes with personalized wine glasses for each girl. We also included leather details, such as a personalized wine tasting note book, an engraved wood pen, personalized coaster and heart-shaped key chains.

For the sweet table, we used natural woods, and leather detailing to highlight the “naked cake”, cupcakes, and boho themed cookies from Cake Rhapsody. I used mason jars and made personalized leather wraps for the granola favours. We made a fun wood “Kailee’s Bachelorette” sign.

For the dinner table, I used the Emerald Lake Lodge’s beautiful wood slab table and eclectic chairs, which was perfect for our boho theme. I kept the table neutral with wood and lace details, so that the brightly coloured flower centrepieces remained the showpiece for the table.” ~ Sharon / Naturally Chic

I’m super excited to share this gorgeous, springtime Banff elopement from Erika Lagy Photography. From the wintery mountain backdrop to the amazing dress, beautiful bride and stunning spring bouquet, this elopement styled shoot has it all!

Banff Elopement Shoot from Erika Lagy Photography

Springtime in the rockies is a welcome relief after a season of cold and snow. With warmer temperatures come a renewed outlook and the promise of still warmer days ahead. It’s a time of celebration and none more perfect than an intimate elopement. Erika Lagy Photography, took inspiration from the stunning landscape and spring season to produce this romantic spring shoot.

Flowers by Janie created a pretty floral crown and a soft, yet colorful bouquet as the perfect nod to the season. The beautiful bride wore a gorgeous Rue de Siene wedding dress from Calgary Bridal Boutique. The bohemian inspired dress was a beautiful complement to the floral crown, and the casual and romantic hair style created by The Pretty Haus. The groom was handsome in his suit from Ted Baker and his tie unified the overall look.

The imagery is simply breathtaking; we’re sure you’ll agree!

From Erika Lagy Photography

“My inspiration for the shoot came from the sudden popularity of mountain elopements. I’m new to Alberta, so I’m absolutely in love with the mountains and find the idea of a mountain elopement very intimate and romantic. We decided to shoot at Lake Minnewanka in Banff, since it is one of my favourite locations in the park. Janie did a beautiful job with the bouquet and flower crown. The weather had been warming up so the pink florals added a lovely touch of spring to a still wintery landscape. Jenna and her team at The Pretty Haus did a stunning job with hair and makeup! A big thank you to Flowers by Janie, The Pretty Haus team, our models: Devon & Travis, and Calgary Bridal Boutique for lending us such a beautiful dress.”

“I am first a child of the living God. I am a mother. I am a wife. I am an artist. I am a creature of passion and emotion. I am so many things and I often feel like I could burst from trying to contain it all. I do what I do because I love it. It’s hard and it’s important. Its rewarding and wonderful. It fulfills my creative itch and I would live in a shoebox if it meant I could continue to do it.

I have been refining my style over the last seven years and have finally come into my own with images that look like film. I love to capture emotion and moments as they happen…little things that appear to be obscure or meaningless. These things often have more meaning than what’s plainly evident.” ~ tricia victoria photography

The holiday season is a wonderful, glorious, hectic time! With attending parties and events, last minute shopping, wrapping gifts, decorating, family commitments and more, finding ‘together’ time can be challenging. While it’s not always easy, one way you can make the holidays a little more memorable, is by taking time together to start your own Christmas Eve traditions.

Christmas Eve Traditions for Couples from Naturally Chic and Tara Whittaker Photography.

Naturally Chic, together with Tara Whittaker Photography, teamed up to share ideas that you can do together on Christmas Eve or throughout the holiday season! Whether this is your first Christmas together, or the first year you’ll be spending Christmas Eve alone, or even if you’re just dreaming of a more meaningful holiday experience, we hope you’ll be inspired by this three part Christmas Eve Traditions for Couples series! Our hope is that you’ll take time to reflect upon the season and spend quality time together!

Christmas Eve Traditions – Part 1

We’ve asked our very first guest blogger, photographer Tara Whittaker, to walk us through a few ideas for incorporating Christmas Eve traditions into your holiday! Here’s what she had to say:

“One of the best parts of being newly married or engaged during the Christmas season is the opportunity to create new traditions with your one and only. As a wedding photographer, it’s fun to see couples begin their new life together. It’s lovely to see them form a new identity with traditions and customs that they can continue throughout the years. Here are some festive suggestions (with a Calgary twist) for couples that are guaranteed to get them in the holiday spirit.”

1. Raise your Glass

Kick off your evening with a holiday cocktail at the perfect après work destination. The casual, yet chic Bar C Restaurant and Lounge on 17th Avenue, tops our list as the perfect spot to toast the holidays and sample the share plates. The Burnt Old Fashioned, complete with a toasted orange slice, is a personal favorite beverage. Cheers!

2.Table for Two

Enjoy an intimate dinner with the one you love. The Lake House is a spectacular setting at any time of year, but they’ve “decked the halls” for Christmas and upped the romance factor. We recommend a dinner for two near the crackling fire in the grand fireplace, while dining on a delicious dinner of Pan Seared Black Cod or Grilled Alberta Beef Tenderloin, to name a few of their specialties. Complete your dining experience with a holiday favorite, Sticky Date Pudding topped with honey ginger ice cream.

3. Gift Wrapped

If you love watching your loved ones open their gifts as much as you love receiving them, why wait until Christmas morning? Give your loved one a small, yet sentimental gift on Christmas Eve and see their face light up. Sometimes the best gifts don’t cost a thing, but are thoughtful and handmade. Consider a custom playlist filled with holiday tunes you both enjoy. Finish your evening on a high note!”
