From the Emily Exon Photography:

“Courtney and James are getting married March 12, 2016. They asked that their engagement shoot be done in Fish Creek Provincial Park as that is where they spend a lot of time biking and walking together. They wanted something that spoke to their style and their personality as a couple. I had such a great time with this Engagement Session. Courtney and James are really special people and their love for each other is easily noticeable when they look into each other eyes and their care for each other is very deliberate. It was a really refreshing photo session with two very loving people.”

From Courtney:

“We met in December of 2012 and started dating right away. James and I met on a dating website! He messaged me first and then we texted for a few weeks before our first meeting and date at a Starbucks.

We love to do anything together that keeps us active and is something new to us. We live near Fish Creek Park so we go for lots of bike rides and walks along the river. Calgary is a vibrant city with lots to do, so on the weekends we like to explore the city and all the new things that are going on all the time. Otherwise…Netflix and the couch is the perfect date night for us.

James and I knew we would be getting engaged eventually, and had already discussed marriage. My dad had an heirloom eternity ring that my grandfather had given my grandmother for one of their anniversaries. My parents gave us one of the diamonds from the ring, so we had my ring custom made with the centre stone being from my grandma’s ring. Once it was ready, James held onto it for about a month before proposing. He had his best friend come to our apartment while we were out for dinner and he set up candles and flowers everywhere. When we got home, I opened the door to the best surprise of my life!”

Thank you to Emily Exon Photography for sharing this beautiful forest engagement with us. To Courtney and James, congratulations and all the best for your upcoming wedding!

We love a good ‘ring shot’ of your wedding bands and engagement rings! We love these photos because not only do they feature beautiful eye candy, but they’re also so personal and meaningful. Of all the choices you make on your wedding day, from choosing your flowers, your stationery, your decor and more, your rings are one of the most personal and intimate choices you’ll make. Your rings are chosen, not for your guests, but for each other. They’re symbols of your everlasting love for each other!

We love the creativity wedding photographers use in shooting your rings! We love that they often highlight not only your beautiful and unique rings, but also often incorporate your wedding decor, theme or scenery into these photographs. Whether simple and sophistcated, subtle or dramatic, these shots themselves become incredibly personal!

We’re constantly amazed at the beautiful shots we see and we’re fascinated with these great photos! Here’s our round-up of some of our  favorite ring shots found on the pages of Canadian Mountain Chic!

A chance meeting by a nurse and firefighter while working and they’ve been together ever since! Fast forward five years, and this mountain-loving couple are engaged and planning their winter wedding in Canmore this upcoming winter. Fortunately for us, we get to share in their gorgeous Kananaskis engagement session, compliments of their uber talented photographer, Loree Photography!

An engagement session in beautiful K-Country, isn’t complete without photographs in the fresh mountain air, by a beautiful waterfall! Jayden and Brad escape their busy work life every chance they get and it often leads them out to the Canmore-Kananaskis area, where they spend their time hiking in summer and snowboarding in winter. When it came time for their engagement photos, it was only natural for them to spend time in a place near and dear to their hearts. It’s also where Brad proposed to Jayden in dramatic fashion, complete with helicopter!

From Jayden (the bride to be):

“Wow where do I begin… Brad and I met over 5 years ago when I was just starting out as a nursing student. I was volunteering with my mom at The weekend to end breast cancer as a medical/first aid volunteer. Brad was working at the time as an EMT for the walk; he was on standby in case any of the participants needed to be transported to hospital.  We were able to work side by side in the medical tent for the 2 day walk. We had a great time bonding over my upcoming schooling in nursing and his other career as a firefighter in Cochrane. Over the 2 days Brad took every opportunity to talk to me whether it be asking for my blister tape (even though he had a pocket full of it) or commenting on my “cool shoes”.  Fortunately I thought he was pretty cute and found him to be quite funny and charming. At the end of the 2 days he asked me for my phone number and a couple weeks later took me on our first date!

The last 5 years of our life has been spent building our home together out in Cochrane, which we chose to be close to our jobs but also to be close to the mountains. We LOVE the mountains! Brad and I escape whenever we have the chance to be out in the mountains, whether it be biking in the summer or snowboarding in the winter, and hanging out anytime during the year with our friends who live in Canmore.

Kananaskis  was the perfect setting for us to do our engagement photos because not only did it get us our mountain fix for the week but it was where Brad proposed! He took me on a helicopter ride where we touched down in a remote area in Kanasakis park. It is a setting that is near and dear to our hearts!

We couldn’t picture ourselves getting married anywhere but the mountainesque Canmore. Any chance we get we are out in Canmore as it is so close to home and is so beautiful. Friday night date night = dinner in Canmore, we are not city people haha! We are extremely excited to tie the knot this upcoming winter in Canmore at Silver Tip Resort.”

“We decided to meet in gorgeous Kananaskis Country for their engagement session. It rained up until literally three minutes before they arrived. From there we had amazing sun and beautiful scenery.

They are the cutest couple and just incredible to photograph!”

Thank you Lori for allowing us to feature your beautiful images! Thank you also to Jayden and Brad, we wish you all the best in your upcoming Canmore wedding!

It was the perfect bluebird sky day for Lainey and Ian’s banff winter engagement session. The mountain landscape captured by Kim Payant Photography was almost surreal! Lainey and Ian are very much in love and is evident in these stunning photos. When a couple enjoys themselves, and beautiful scenery and fresh mountain air doesn’t hurt either, you count on memorable e-session!

From the Bride-to-be:

“My best friend and I were out sliding one winter back in high school. Her car got stuck in the snow and we needed someone to pull us out. She called her cousin and he said he was with a friend who would come help us. That friend turned out to be Ian. Ian and I bonded instantly, but didn’t start dating until after high school. We’ve been together for 7 years now.
Ian proposed the day before my birthday this year. We went golfing – my best friend, Ian’s cousin, Ian and I. On the green of hole 8, along the Athabasca and Clearwater rivers, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

We’re getting married August 6th, 2016 in Banff. Our wedding theme is a rustic-romance.”

We are so happy to have the opportunity to feature Lainey and Ian’s banff engagement session today! We wish them all the best! Thanks again to Kim Payant Photography who continually delivers the most beautiful imagery.
