From the Photographer:

“Emily and Ryan’s Banff Springs Hotel wedding was one dreams are dreamed of (bad sentence form).  From fitted tuxedo’s, to the gorgeous Dina Alonzi wedding gown,  epic grand entrance dances and booty shaking to the max.  This wedding party sure knew how to shake. Shake. Shake their money makers.  I truly enjoyed every moment of their wedding in the majestic Rocky Mountains of Alberta.   The number of friends and family that attended their wedding, and the number of people they had standing for them on their wedding day is a true testament to their ability to bring together so many people to celebrate with them and share in an incredible day.  And if there was any doubt, all you needed to hear were the speeches that were given by the wedding party.  Pure Gold!  One thing that I did learn from the speeches is that everyone, and I mean everyone, is Ryan’s oldest and best friend.  Especially his beautiful bride.”

Today we’re sharing this beautiful Banff elopement from Sarah Vaughan Photography. Kayla and Marcus were married in a touching ceremony at Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park, with only themselves and their two best friends looking on.

There’s just something so special and romantic about an elopement and I love that this couple knew that it was a good fit for them. Their day centered soley around their love and commitment to each other.

Kayla was stunning in her Paloma Blanca gown and Marcus handsome in his suit and bow tie. Sarah Vaughan Photography captured the day so beautifully!

From the Bride:

We decided to elope for a number of reasons, but mostly because we wanted our day to be just about the two of us. We are very untraditional people so the idea of eloping fit perfectly into our opinion of what a wedding and marriage should be about.  The whole day was centered around the two of us and that is really the only thing that matters.

The ceremony was quick and to the point. I think the whole thing lasted 15 minutes, which was great! I wrote our vows, taking an excerpt from a poem by Pablo Neruda. We also had a “ring warming ceremony”, where our two witnesses (our best friends) made a silent wish for Marcus and I before handing the rings over to us. It was so emotional and such an intimate part of our day that I will treasure forever.

Our day was so perfect! I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better location. Two jack lake was so beautiful and standing on the waters edge made everything that much more romantic and timeless.

This ski lodge wedding has just the right amount of pretty! From the bride’s gorgeous dress to her organic-style bouquet, the softness contrasted with the ruggedness of the mountains and the rustic mountain location. Alison and Jason were married on July 18th, 2014 at Norquay near Banff, Alberta.

Forest fires in the area north of Banff, made for hazy skies early in the day. Later, the skies cleared and seemingly softened the rugged mountain peaks. This allowed Kim Payant Photography, the opportunity to capture some uniquely beautiful portraits of the couple and it made for an especially memorable day.

From the Photographer:

“The day started with Alison getting her hair and make-up done at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, while Jason was getting ready at the Juniper Hotel and Bistro. That day was quite unique from the beginning because there was a lot of forest fires in the region and that morning was definitely smoky in the Valley. I remember standing on Jason’s balcony to take a photo of the Banff Springs and you could barely see it! Luckily, the smoke lifted throughout the day and we were able to see a few mountains here and there, but it created an “hazy” mood to the photos!

Jason and Alison decided to get married at the Norquay because Alison is passionate about skiing. She and her family spent a lot of time at Norquay while growing up so this place meant a lot for her and her family.

The couple decided to do a “first look” and have their ceremony in the late afternoon just before the cocktail hour. It was a nice way for them to spend more time with their friends and family! I love first look because you can definitely feel the excitement in the air and I always love the groom’s reaction!”

Caroline and Jeremy combined their love of travel and nature for their eco-friendly Banff wedding. To minimize their impact on the environment, they chose an eco-conscious venue, had all the events in one place to minimize travel, served a vegetarian meal, asked their wedding party to wear their own dresses and suits, bought a vintage wedding ring, and used table numbers made out of upcycled maps to list a few of their efforts.

Their wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are and oh so pretty too! The bride’s father made the ceremony arch and the bride’s sister artistically hung all the flowers in glass globes. The bride and groom wore pieces of clothing that were made from items belonging to their family members for a personalized and memorable day beautifully captured by Kim Payant Photography.

From the bride Caroline…So far, we have traveled to 19 countries together and have rarely had a permanent place to call home. This traveling has tested and strengthened our relationship and made us the people that we are today. We love seeing what the world has to offer and relish in being outdoors. Because we want to keep that world beautiful we are also environmentally conscious. As such, we had a (literally) green theme and tried to minimize our impact on the environment.

I found a company that could provide us with spruce saplings and then dressed them up in personalized bags and put them on the table as decoration/favors. I love the idea of there being 60 more trees in the world because we got married!

I made my sash out of my Jeremy’s mother’s wedding dress and one of my grandmother’s earrings. I wore my sister’s veil and a bracelet that two of my childhood friends wore on their wedding days. Jeremy wore my Dad’s cufflinks. All these tokens were a reminder of the constant love and support from our family and friends.

Favorite Moments of the day…1. Walking down the aisle – looking up and seeing all my closest friends and family there supporting me and my future husband at the end of the aisle suddenly hit me and my eyes immediately welled up with tears. That moment alone made the 10 months of planning worth it! 2. Flash mob – Jeremy’s signature song for karaoke has always been “Build me up Buttercup” so I decided to surprise him with a flash mob at the reception. I sent out a video of choreography to guests prior and we were able to pull it off with style! 3. Our vows – we elected to write our own vows and didn’t tell each other what we were going to say beforehand. It was the perfect way to personalize the ceremony and really express how we felt about one another. Jeremy’s vows had me breaking down in tears at one point and laughing hysterically at another…
